We understand for many service users connecting with someone else who has been through similar experiences can be a great support on their recovery journeys.
We introduced peer support into services to provide service users with the opportunity to meet and learn from other people who have experience of mental health challenges.
Peer support workers are paid members of staff who have experience of mental ill health or distress and have been or currently are service users themselves. They use both their own experiences and the skills they have learned in their training to support service users on their recovery journey.
