Two of our physiotherapists have been invited to make poster presentations at the Virtual Physiotherapy Conference 2021.
Being offered the chance to present shows that the quality and value of their work has been recognised by colleagues inside and outside the NHS.
Jane Blakey, trainee advanced clinical practitioner in MHSOP (mental health services for older people) was co-lead of a project to develop collaborative student placements alongside Teesside University.
Faced with high demand during a national pandemic the senior physiotherapy team delivered a 100% virtual placement focussed on service development and leadership which went down well with the participants. Six students passed the module with high placement grades.
Phil Hodgson, clinical specialist in AMHS (adult mental health services), was invited to make two presentations. The first focusses on developing a new physiotherapy service for adults admitted to inpatient services in Durham and Darlington including identifying further developments for potential community follow-up, ward-based groups, and drop-in clinics in addition to current 1-1 sessions.
The second explains how this service was co-created as Phil worked closely with patient and ex-patient participants from our Expert by Experience Group.
Virtual Physiotherapy 2021 takes place on 5-6 November and Jane and Phil’s presentations will be displayed throughout the conference. Good luck Jane and Phil!
