About CAMHS training
We offer free training for people who work with children in Teesside who already have a basic knowledge of mental health.
The emphasis throughout the training is on effective multi-agency working to improve outcomes for children and young people
The sessions are best suited to those who have a basic knowledge of children’s mental health and wish to develop their understanding further.
Workshops on offer
We offer the following online workshops, delivered live via Microsoft Teams:
Multi-agency children’s workforce
Understanding anxiety
The workshop focuses on understanding anxiety, with the aim to provide staff with tools and knowledge to spot signs and support children and young people experiencing anxiety.
Workshop date: Monday 6 December, 10am-12noon (fully booked)
Understanding mental health – risk and resilience
This workshop acts an introduction to children’s mental health, understanding what this means and the impact on young people/families and communities.
The session introduces the risk and resilience theories and explores how this can be used by agencies to improve outcomes for children/young people and their families.

Understanding low mood
An overview of low mood and depression in children and young people and the risk factors associated with this. NICE guidelines are considered and appropriate pathways and support strategies discussed.
Workshop date: Tuesday 7 December, 12.30pm-14.30pm (fully booked)
Understanding self-harm
This workshop provides an overview of the definitions, demographics and prevalence of self-harm and the risk factors associated with self-harm discussed. The session highlights appropriate support services and interventions.
Workshop date: Tuesday 30 November, 12:30pm-14:30pm
Understanding ADHD
This session provides an awareness of ADHD and the core symptoms in children and young people. NICE guidelines are considered and the process of assessment and diagnosis discussed. Support strategies and intervention available within the locality shared.
Workshop date: Wednesday 1 December, 10am-12noon (fully booked)
Adverse child experiences (ACEs)
This workshop provides an introduction to ACEs and explores how these can impact on a child’s health, learning and emotional development. The session will discuss how we can best support young people affected by strengthening their resilience through a trauma informed approach.

Schools and colleges
Education staff wellbeing
This session will offer education staff an understanding of the importance of emotional wellbeing. The session will cover what can adversely impact on wellbeing and consider strategies that can help strengthen and support good mental health both from an individual perspective and from a whole school perspective.
